Alice is back in business.

Conflict. Misery. Heartbreak. Death. These things that once brought Alice down now empower her. And so I as her creator breathe life back into our protagonist alice, who i must say has been absent far too long. Alice has changed, discovered truth, found meanings, lost people, won experience, all of this since she first came into existence. And because finally she is confident enough to climb out of the rabbit hole and change things in the real world, I have resurrected our dear protagonist. No longer is she just Alice in wonderland. She is Alice in the real world. Expect her to do greater things, reach for higher stars, alter your views of planet earth and its societies. You know what is great about the Internet? The lords of this virtual universe we have taken refuge in are the nerds at school. And the popular ones at school are the noobs of the worldwide web. Alice has dominated wonderland, and she is here now to guide the masses in the Internet world.

On revival, time, memory

I dedicate this post to those who have woven in and out of my life, as well as those who remain.

As the end of the year approaches, I've been thinking a lot about time. What is time? Something born from the human mind. And for what purpose? In an ever-changing world, we look to time as constant, unchanging. The control variable in our lives. Because, we need stability. We need to hold on to something, to know that it's always there, repeating its cycle at the same intervals, even when our lives are falling apart.

Stages of our lives must always terminate. Like bubbles, they are perfect circles carrying us inside them. From inside we can see the outside world, but we float by it, ignore it, focus on the space in the bubble. Then there are those who look out, to the past or to the future, living in a world that once was or will be. But somehow, while the future holds promise and the past holds certainty, one will most definitely live unhappily staring out of the bubble, wanting to be somewhere else. Like all bubbles, moments must also burst. Burst, and then we find ourselves floating by in another bubble. And all we have left of our previous bubble is a memory.

My great-grandmother has Alzheimer's disease. It used to be mild, where she forgot where she put her hairpins, or didn't remember to close the front door. In those days, she told me stories. About how, in the very same house in which we were sitting, she once fried mountains of puffy, golden pooris in sizzling oil for my mum and her cousins when they visited. Stories of my grandmother's childhood. Stories filled with bright fabrics, delicate milk-sweets, and my uncles and aunts. She was very well aware that her time left was limited. Since then, I visited her in that very same house. The only house left in our possession from the expanses that my great great grandfather, a domineering, intense landlord, once owned. The rest of the land was lost by my great- grandfather, or taken away by the communist government. Except that house. The house where my mother was born, where my grandmother played, where my great-grandmother fried her pooris. They had to sell it last year- my great-grandparents need assistance as they approach their 100s. My great-grandmother, last time I saw her, couldn't remember me. She didn't know who my mother was, or even her own daughter. She requires help to perform even the most basic functions. She is in a wheelchair because she has forgotten how to walk. As we were about to leave the house that day when she didn't remember me, we took a picture. And just for a second, a fleeting moment, there was something in her deep blue eyes. A memory, recognition perhaps. Her eyes flickered and glowed. And, like a bubble, it was gone the next second. Her memories are alive, somewhere deep, deep inside her soul. And she told me those stories so that she could keep them alive. So I could tell my children, and them theirs. So that a part of her would never perish from this earth.

Memories are powerful. They drive our emotions. They are everlasting if one can manage to pass them down. The memories I've had with you all, I never want them to die. Like my great-grandmother preserved her memories, I too will never let the memories of this year perish. Thank you for the time I've spent with you.

iGivemyopiniononeverythingasusual

Today marks the release of the iPad. We went to the Apple store and viewed it. My god, it is beautiful. And extremely functional. Our society, however, is becoming increasingly dependent on electronic devices for entertainment, refuge, information, useless celebrity gossip, and happiness. Let us weigh the pros and cons of technological dependence.

PROS:
-Convenience
-Seamless transfer and spread of important information
-Communication becomes effortless
-Endless access to tons of knowledge

CONS:
-Too much information being transferred (stuff that might accidentally get on the net to your dismay)
-Dependence and too much reliance, to the point of addiction
-Hype, lies, useless celebrity gossip become more prevalent in our society
-Social networking jeopardizes social skills as well as proper use of the English language
-Makes us LAZY BUMS

So, I don't think you can say just one thing. The question is not if this dependence is good or bad, because it's ahb-viously both. But all one can say now, observing how frequently and at what a rapid rate new, efficient, fantastic devices come out for anything and everything, is that the world is in for quite a ride. And it will never be the same again.

Alice through the years

http://thebloggernews.blogspot.com/
First of all, check out this new blog run by Musey, Trili, and I. =)

Now on to the feature:

In this feature, we will examine the evolution of Alice's plotline, as well as her development as a protagonist.

1865- Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is published. Alice is a young child of about seven. Intrigued by her cat Dinah, Alice is the quintessential mischievous young girl, utterly bored by her sister's history books, preferring to make daisy chains and petting Dinah. Lewis Carroll uses satire (sometimes the whole book is considered allegorical irony) to portray the useless memorization endured by British schoolchildren-Alice repeats ridiculous poems and fails at simple addition.

1951- Alice is first portrayed wearing her classic blue dress and Alice band, which has had a huge influence on fashion today. Disney adopted the character of Alice as a Disney Princess of sorts, infusing her character with Disney values. Alice dreams big- she wants to find a wonderful world for herself. She is portrayed as a lonely girl with a dream- much like Disney's princesses Cinderella, Aurora, Jasmine, and others. She is polite and has excellent manners, but, like other princesses before her, has a streak of rebelliousness and independence that emerges as she wanders around in Wonderland.

2010-In Tim Burton's stylized "Alice" movie, Alice is a strong, adolescent female lead, with a distinct voice, character, and strength.

She makes decisions by herself (leaving her fiance, etc etc). She slays the Jabberwocky in heavy armour. In this movie, the most recent of Alice's appearances, she has the most independence and strength than she ever did before, portraying her not anymore as a young, muddled child, but rather as a distinctly real adolescent of this day and age, with decisions and opinions of her own and the will to carry them out.

~BREAKING NEWS~QUAKE LEAVES BLOGGER DEVASTATED~

This just in. I'm Alice, reporting live from Bloggerville with your update on this terrorizing earthquake that has ravaged an unprepared website. One of the first signs we received was a totally voteless poll that has been up for a week here at Through the Looking Glass.

http://thetrilingualbookeater.blogspot.com/2010/03/104567677387466574657-earthquake-on.html?showComment=1267845914653_AIe9_BFWWjlTuoMRQ8rZDLvn-yqOFf083CztPgfntNNiaOvnq732u1DExom382tHwK_va6zAGuZRN4hFQ4jKYqb2-V1EYBVzuolWeI0UVibNvCXfefChGeA9QS8xJFyb0pHqO8KA_d854jhi5JNGFZEQMg7UKRJyDLRk6NJHSVNKoqOei57PuiZy1N5OZHPnlUSyWUBs8rNQCO24lPYqjqNndSxQyLF4D64rwMPEK-XDqEw2XIptPLOhV_nHpbE6ml5uAYPEtxDF#c5147499385833561970

Visit this link for additional information about this terrible disaster.

A magnitude 10.4567677387466574657 earthquake devastated the city of Bloggerville earlier this moth, leaving many homeless and commentless. Some of the city's most important figures have just been extracted from under the rubble. Here is your update:

Vivemalinka-A visiting dignitary from New Zealand, Malinka was sorely underprepared for this tragedy. Alive, she was dug up earlier today from under a large pile of Privacy Settings. She returned to New Zealand with a smile on her face, totally unsuspecting anything would happen to her perfect blog-life.

Bbjbj-Bbjbj was taking a walk to the grocery store when the quake hit. She was found in a mass of Comment Moderation debris. She is in a deep sleep back at My Account, occasionally flailing her arms, blinking, or mumbling to herself. However, it is taking quite a huge effort to get her to respond even on such a small scale.

Sir Swish- Was left handicapped with a broken foot. He was among the first to be affected by this disaster, and Trili and I have been trying to reconcile him with large doses of Comment medicine. However, our attempts have been largely unsuccessful. Maybe a stronger antidote will do the trick. Trili is in the lab, mixing one, feeling bleak and hopeless.

Blue Roses- After a very confusing spasm, odd muscle contractions, and involuntary twitching, Bluey was laid to rest at My Account. Trili and I have been bringing Blue Roses to her grave every day in hopes of resurrection.

Chiron- Has been slaving away working on the camp syllabus. We hope... His body has not yet emerged from the rubble.

Your Personal Sunlight- Was found partying around the Gmail/Tri-State area. Decided Bloggerville was not the city for her.

Randomnessandlyfe=synonomous- Showing signs, however primitive. We've heard a few prehistoric grunts and the occasional "Nom Nom" from her. Hopefully the antidote will work on her as well.

I've been reciting a lot of Alice quotes lately in order to cheer me up, but I need some time to think. What great losses Bloggerville has suffered, leaving only two conscious survivors, Trili and I. We need your help to save the poor civilians of Bloggerville. Only you can reverse the fate of this destroyed city. It is in your hands, young Jedi. So join the cause. Help save the city with your donations of comments and posts.

Additional updates on other citizens provided as we receive info.

My mum's cousin has arrived from Singapore, the happiest place on Earth. We are preparing for a large desi gathering-my parents have been cooking all day. Four lasagnas, a pot of soup... not to mention appetizers and cake. In Singapore, they make all guys when they reach a certain age serve in the military.
