Before life, there was a dark, never-ending ocean containing all the happiness, sorrow, laughter, pain, jealousy and wishes in all eternity. The ocean licked the edges of a dawn that couldn’t emerge in the mist. There a lord sat, in a tiny bubble on the scales of an unsuspecting sea serpent. One day, the bubble popped as the lord’s sleep had been interrupted, by what, he did not know. Suddenly, a lotus blossom appeared out of the serpent’s head. A tiny little immortal man climbed out. “Ah, I have been awaiting your arrival for a while”, said the lord.
“I have an idea, young one. Make the sun. I need light so I can read.” Immediately the lotus-born creator began to light leftover Diwali candles. He conjured an array of sticks from the air and placed a candle in each twisting curve of oak and hazel. He catapulted it into the air then and light began. A sun. He took a cherry blossom which bloomed into the moon. “Let us create the world! Otherwise, who will enjoy this beauty of starlight?” said the lord. He took the emotional water and formed a majestic Bengal Tiger, the cunning jackal, the steady camel, and a human. The lord took a string and wove it into many seeds, but before he could finish, his servant bumped into him and the seeds all scattered. They grew lush, green grass and soaked up most of the water. And out of the mist, a perfect first dawn emerged. Lord was so surprised that he dropped all the humans and animals and floated upward. Eternality was never the same again.
